FAQ
Why do I need a colour consultant to pick a few colours?
In my experience, most people could do with professional help!
The vast majority of clients who contact me have spent days, weeks sometimes, getting in a real tizz over colour swatches. In the best case scenario, they have wasted a little bit of their time. In the worse case scenario, they have invested considerable amounts of time, energy and money, only to end up with disappointing results.
Having the guidance of a Colour Consultant will help you materialize your thoughts, while having confidence that the end result will be to your complete satisfaction. Best of all, the process remains fun and enjoyable, avoiding you the most common mistakes and unnecessary frustrations.
I’m in mid-project, can you still help me?
Yes. I have consulted on several projects, in various stages of completion. The main reason for being brought in, is the overall discordant result.
When approaching this type of project, I will usually give my client two options:
The first one is to work with what is already in place (tiles, worktops, etc.), providing the best possible outcome, without having to replace existing materials. This is the most economical approach and the one most often chosen.
The second approach, is to start over again with some, or all of the troublesome areas. This can be a costly approach, as materials will need to be replaced.
How can this work online? Don’t you need to see the place first?
No. I am very comfortable working online, as long as I have accurate pictures. I know what questions to ask and can build a mental picture of the space, as well as the look you are after, very accurately.
Unless you have an unusually complex or challenging room (in which case, I will let you know), working online or in person is the same process.
How can you match to my existing tile? Wallpaper?
If you don’t have a specific manufacturer’s pattern/colour reference, the best thing to do is to send me a sample, by post.
How long does it take to receive a colour scheme?
On receipt of payment and completed questionnaire, I aim to deliver the following:
- Option A & B:24-48 Hrs
- Option C & D: 3-5 days
- Option E: I will give you an estimate of time, based on the scope of the project and keep you fully informed of progress.
What if I don’t like the colours you choose?
According to my testimonials and feedback, this doesn’t happen. I am very conscious of the fact that you are the person who has to like the room, so I don’t impose my taste on you.
My job, as a colour consultant, is to draw out as much valuable information from you, so I can provide you with a colour scheme that, not only is cohesive, but “fits” you.
I do often take clients out of their “comfort zone”, but they always remark on it positively. Usually saying something like: “I would have never picked that colour myself, but now that I have it, I love it!”
What if I don’t have a Paypal account?
You don’t need a Paypal account to use Paypal. Once you are logged on to the payment page, you have the option to pay with a debit/credit card.
I have paid, now what?
I am currently working on a questionnaire for people to fill out, but in the meanwhile, please send me an email at ingrid (at) liloultd.com and explain briefly what you are trying to do.
Things I need to know:
- A brief description of the area
- A brief description of what you wish to achieve (contemporary, dramatic, traditional, etc.)
- What is being worked on/replaced & what is staying.
- Colours you do NOT like
I will ask further details as needed.
I really feel more comfortable with a home visit, can you help?
Yes, if you are located in West Cheshire, I am happy to schedule an appointment for a personal colour consultation. See Services & Fees for prices (bottom of the page).
